The Mayflower Community’s retiring chaplain, Len Eberhart, conducted his last chapel service on Tuesday, June 25th. Len has provided staff and spiritual support to the Mayflower Residents Association Chapel Committee since 2012. He retired June 29th.

Long a tradition at Mayflower, Chapel is a Tuesday morning ecumenical service coordinated by residents. Worship leaders, solicited from all over the Grinnell area, choose scripture and songs to combine with their message for a half-hour service. The worship leaders can be local clergy, but more often are church leaders, Mayflower idents, Grinnell College staff, and others.

In his role, Len has offered advice and guidance to the Chapel Committee in his role. Last Tuesday, he was the worship leader offering up traditional church hymns to support his message about God’s grace.

A special treat at the service was a “piano trio,” organized by pianist Joyce Wubbels and joined by Jean Libbey on cello (Both are Mayflower residents.) and Diane Eberhart on violin. Diane is Len’s wife.
