Come hear Jordan Scheibel of Middle Way Farm explain the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) “Farm Shares” program. MONDAY, MARCH 18th, 3:00 – 4:00pm. Mayflower’s Kiesel Theater (lower-level Pearson building, 616 Broad Street).
Jordan will be accompanied by some Mayflower Residents who have participated in Middle Way Farm’s CSA program. Middle Way Farm is a transitioning to organic market garden operated by Jordan since 2013 on land he leases from the Lacina family just north of Grinnell. Weekly or every other week, Middle Way Farm will deliver boxes of farm-fresh, high quality, seasonal produce from June through October. In 2018, the farm served around 75 CSA customers including a number of Mayflower residents. Therefore, Jordan set up a drop site along Mayflower Lane on the Buckley Courtyard veranda on Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00pm.
In addition to talking about the process of raising organic vegetables, Jordan will be presenting the unique opportunity he provides for customers to sign-up for a completely customizable CSA share, in addition to his traditional “farmer’s choice” CSA share. Custom share members can choose what they get in their box each week and are not obligated to order every week. For any customer who will pick up at Mayflower, Jordan will be offering a special discount when you sign up at the presentation.
More information about the farm can be found at https://www.middlewayfarm.com/. You can view CSA share options and sign-up online at http://middlewayfarm.csasignup.com/members/types. Jordan will also provide brochures at his presentation, which can be used as sign-up forms.
