With about 275 residents and over 200 homes, the Mayflower Community (Grinnell IA) is a vibrant community of independent living and healthcare residents. In fact, Mayflower is so vibrant that the transitions never stop. People are always moving in and around the campus. During the months of August and September, 10 different residents moved from independent living to healthcare in Beebe Assisted Living or the Health Center.
Periodically, we have to stop and take inventory as to what kinds of homes are available. On the healthcare side, the 20 Beebe Assisted Living apartments are all full with a waiting list. The Health Center with a capacity of 60, stays nearly full as a number of residents choose to pay for private rooms, thereby, reducing the capacity.
For independent living options, there are no Watertower Square nor Harwich Terrace patio homes available at this time. In addition, there is a waiting list for both kinds of homes. The story is different with traditional apartments in our five original inner campus buildings. There are 78 total apartments in those buildings. Due to recent moves, a number of homes of different sizes and features are available. This is a good time to consider a Mayflower move and look at an apartment.
In addition, coming on the Wait-List can help assure you of the type of home you want when you are ready.
