Thursday, June 13th marks the final day for classroom and clinical work for the nine Grinnell College students who have been on an intensive Mayflower Community training program to be certified as Nurse Aides (CNA).
The nine underclassmen were chosen to begin training on May 20th under the tutelage of Vickie Wieck, RN, Mayflower Assistant Director of Nursing. Since that time, they have been in the classroom or working in the Mayflower Health Center. They will sit for the CNA exam on June 20th. Then they will begin part-time work in the Health Center as their schedules permit.
To celebrate them, a special Mayflower staff picnic, featuring grilled chicken, hamburger, and quarter-pound beef hotdogs will be held on Thursday, June 13th from 10:00am until 12:30pm.
Mayflower residents are invited to come greet and congratulate the students (pictured above with Vickie and Kellie McGriff, Associate Director/Administrator) when they arrive at 11:00am.
