Generous friends of Mayflower Community have provided gifts of nearly $130,000 to purchase two vehicles that literally keep Mayflower residents on the go. The gifts by anonymous donors allowed Mayflower to purchase “Lester,” a 15-passenger bus, and “Daisy,” a conversion van that accommodates two wheelchairs. The new bus transports active residents on day trips organized by the activities department, to local events such as theatre productions, and to daily swimming sessions at Grinnell College. The accessible van is used for rides to medical and other resident appointments.
