April 25th, 17 Mayflower residents were treated to a tour of the huge Kinze Manufacturing, Inc. company north of I-80 and west of Williamsburg. We traversed the 30-acre, 1,000,000 square-foot plant via tram, hosted by an insightful and knowledgeable tour guide.
Founded by Jon Kinzenbaw as a welding shop in Ladora, Iowa in 1965, the company has grown to be one of America’s largest privately-held agricultural equipment manufacturers. Kinzenbaw is a talented designer and welder, who continued to build equipment to solve row-crop farmers’ needs. Jon and Kinze Manufacturing hold a number of patents, as they specialize in planters and grain carts. Over 550 employees work on the site.
Pictured above is the famous stack of grain carts that Kinze designed for use at Farm Progress shows, maximizing the amount of equipment they could display on limited space. Also shown, are Mayflower residents viewing displays and listening to the tour guide.
