Recently, the Grinnell Lions Club hosted their annual “Ag Appreciation Day,” in and around Central Park. The culminating event was the Tractor Ride, which normally circles Central Park and a couple of blocks of downtown. This year, they veered a couple of blocks south to treat Mayflower residents to the spectacle.
Coming south on Broad Street, the tractors passed Mayflower’s Harwich Terrace North patio homes and then traveled between Watertower Square and the Montgomery, Pearson, and Edwards apartment buildings. Turning left (east) on 1st Avenue, they passed the Beebe Assisted Living building on the north and Harwich Terrace homes on the south. From there, the tractors headed north back to Central Park, passing between Mayflower’s Health Center and the Buckley and Altemeier buildings. It is great to live next to downtown Grinnell! It is even better when there is a parade, and the weather is perfect like it was for the Tractor Ride.
