While adhering to the City of Grinnell’s water boil advisory, The Mayflower Community went a step further and boiled shrimp…and corn on the cob and redskin potatoes. To spice things up, Mayflower’s Foodservices staff also served andouille sausage, homemade coleslaw, garlic bread, and Mayflower-baked beignets. Of course, there were drinks made with boiled water that was subsequently iced down!
This all took place on Wednesday evening, June 8th in gorgeous Iowa early summer weather on the Buckley Courtyard Patio next to the fishponds and luscious foliage. Over 100 residents and guests were served in the open air as part of Mayflower’s Annual Shrimp Boil.
No one went home hungry.
