On Monday, October 19th, residents of The Mayflower Community met virtually via Zoom to conduct the business of the Mayflower Residents Association (MRA). The meeting was conducted by President Gene Wubbels and included offerings from four other Executive Officers. In addition, chairs of 12 different standing committees provided annual reports of their activities.
Even during the pandemic, much activity has transpired. The Chapel Committee (Dorothy Noer, chair) has been filming and broadcasting Mayflower-produced worship services. The Green Team (Sandy Moffett, chair) has been meeting to continue to seek ways that residents can be environmentally-friendly.
The Library Committee (Katherine McClelland and D’Ann Kelty, co-chairs) sanitize borrowed and contributed books and keep them circulating on the Pearson library shelves. The Social Committee (Harriet Adelberg, Chair) has met with the Lyceum Committee (Sue Ahrens, chair) to consider a variety of pandemic-safe programs. The Treasure Chest Committee (Sue Drake, chair) continues to rotate display offerings each month, while the Mini-Gift Shop Committee (Kathy Herman) has decided to keep the shop closed for precautionary purposes.
Treasurer Carmen Raffety reported that the MRA is operating within budget, one that has been strategically reduced. President-Elect Jack Mutti described arrangements for assimilating new independent living residents during this period of social distancing, including the formation of a new group, the Welcome Home Committee, chaired by Char Ewan.
In addition, the residents heard updates from six different Mayflower senior staff members.
Safe but vibrant!
