The U.S. Medicare program provides for a period time, “Open Enrollment,” during which enrollees can make changes to their Part D Prescription Drug plans. We are now in that period which expires on December 7th.
Potential carrier changes could result in positive improvement in cost of the plan, drugs covered, medication access, and co-payment and deductible features.
This once-a-year window of opportunity is easier to consider with the assistance of a SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program) counselor who works as a volunteer on the behalf of the Iowa Department of Insurance. There is no charge for this consultation.
For Mayflower Community residents, appointments can be scheduled by calling resident Kathy Szary, a certified SHIIP counselor, on her cell phone 641-990-8507. She meets with Medicare insured residents in the MRA Conference Room, located in the Pearson building, 616 Broad Street.
