On Wednesday, September 1st, residents of The Mayflower Community (Grinnell IA) popped into a “Pop-Up Party” on the west lawn of the Edwards building. “Pop-up?” That’s a concept developed by the Social Committee of the Mayflower Residents Association. It means just stop on by and enjoy some snacks and conversation.
The snacks consisted of pretzels and lemonade and ice tea. The activity include bocce ball, Ladder Toss®, corn hole toss, and brain-stumpers. Oh, yes; there was a little conversation among the 40 or so who attended.
The event was planned and staged by residents John and Dorothy Noer, Linda Myren, and Karen Packard with assistance from Mayflower’s Foodservices department.
So, what else exciting is going to happen? Well, Mayflower has reinstituted the last-Friday-of-the-Month resident wine and cheese gatherings. Conversations. A variety of wines and non-alcoholic bubbly plus cheese and cracker plates.
Oh, yes. There is the Saturday, September 25th “Tailgate Party” for barbeque and fixins in the Buckley Courtyard that will precede the afternoon’s televised football games. Food and conversation…We know how to do it at Mayflower!
