On Tuesday, August 3rd, eight members of Poweshiek County’s Mighty Golden Clovers 4H Club visited The Mayflower Community’s Health Center and Beebe Assisted Living. The event was organized by Mayflower’s Community Life and Wellness staff.
The “Share the Fair” event was a follow-up to the 4H’ers’ presentations at the Poweshiek County Fair and a prelude to competition next week at the Iowa State Fair. These members of the Club’s 20 or so total, demonstrated skills in pottery-making, rabbit-raising, photography, painting, blanket-making, performances, and more. Included was the creation of watermelon truffles by the niece of Mayflower’s Scott Gruhn, Foodservices Director. (The apples are close to this tree!)
A special treat was the bagpipe playing of “Happy Birthday” for resident Karen Stevenson.
The Clubbers and their leader, Stacy Turley, next head to the Iowa State Fair.
