Kellie has over 20 years in leadership positions in senior care. Her work has included operations, sales and marketing, health care, finance, and technology. As a consultant and clinical specialist, Kellie has served over 50 nursing facilities.

Currently, Kellie serves on the Iowa Health Care Quality Partners (IHCQP) and is active with the Iowa Health Care Association (IHCA) as an advocate for legislative, reimbursement issues, and quality care for senior living.

At Mayflower Homes, Inc., Kellie has led innovation initiatives around community life and well-being, technology transformation, business and finance policy and systems, health care systems, and employee wellness.

Kellie holds the National Nursing Home Administrator’s license from the State of Iowa and Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Scott Gruhn / Director of Facilities and Operations / Email Scott
Scott began employment in Mayflower Food Service operations in 1987, had a seven-year hiatus in other culinary and entertainment roles, and returned as Foodservice Director in 2000. Scott served as Mayflower’s Foodservice Director until February 2023 when he took on additional duties with his current title. He oversees the Foodservice program, Facilities staff, and Housekeeping and Laundry operations. Scott was the visionary and developer of Mayflower’s exemplary Open Dining program that offers full cooking kitchens in the Buckley Dining Room (independent living dining), Beebe Assisted Living, and the Health Center.

With Scott’s interest in food as medicine, he has provided vision and direction for daily operations and catering services for Mayflower residents and other Grinnell community events. In addition, Scott has previously supervised Mayflower’s Housekeeping and Laundry departments and has a hands-on background in the building trades. He is a Culinary Arts program graduate of Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Scott is a Grinnell native.

Pam Vosburg, C.P.A. / Chief Financial Officer / Email Pam
Pam joined the staff of The Mayflower Community in December of 2009 as Chief Financial Officer. She oversees the accounting, billing, payables, and financial management for all Mayflower organizations. Prior to joining Mayflower, Pam practiced in public accounting, as sole practitioner and most recently as partner in a local accounting and audit firm. She has also held positions at Grinnell Newburg Schools as high school business teacher, Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company as systems analyst, and Grinnell College in student financial aid, as well as serving as treasurer and controller of a family-owned retail building materials company. She has a B.S. degree in Business Education from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Missouri and has completed additional study at Iowa State University, Ames, IA. She obtained her CPA certificate to practice in Iowa in 1981. A Missouri native, Pam lives in Grinnell.

Christy Kaisand / Human Resources Director / Email Christy
Christy is the Human Resources Director, having worked in Mayflower human resources since August of 2013. Christy is responsible for employee recruitment, orientation and training, compliance, benefit administration, personnel records, nursing payroll, and Workers’ Compensation Programs. Christy received her Bachelor of Arts in Finance from the University of Iowa. Prior to coming to Mayflower, she was in business management. Christy is a Montezuma native and now lives in Grinnell.

Vickie Wieck, RN/ Director of Nursing / Email Vickie

Vickie was employed by the State of Iowa for over 34 years, performing a variety of nursing leadership roles, the last of which was Long-Term Care Surveyor.

Upon retirement from the state in 2018, Vickie accepted the role as Quality Assurance and Staff Development nurse at Mayflower until her departure in 2021.

Vicki continued to be active in nursing management positions before accepting the current offer to become Mayflower’s Director of Nursing.
Outside of work, Vickie finds joy in family trips, gatherings, lake activities, bonfires, and relaxation time. She cherishes the opportunity to attend her grandchildren’s events and spend quality time with them. Vickie is eagerly looking forward to collaborating with the Mayflower Team to provide and meet the needs of our valued residents.

Jacki Hicklin, RN/ Director of Assisted Living and Home Services / Email Jacki
Jacki has been employed as a nurse in The Mayflower Community since November of 2002. Her positions have included charge nurse, supervisor of restorative services, Assistant Director of Nursing, and Interim Director of Nursing. Jacki was licensed as a Practical Nurse (L.P.N.) in 1998 and as a Registered Nurse (R.N.) in 2000. Before coming to Mayflower, she worked in other long-term care facilities for a total of four years, in the positions of charge nurse, and interim director of nursing.

Doug Lockin, CPA / Gift Planning Specialist /Email Doug
Since the spring of 2008, Doug has led charitable fund development activities for The Mayflower Community and the Mayflower Homes Foundation. Doug’s primary focus is providing professional gift planning conversation and guidance to friends of Mayflower. His time is provided to all friends of Mayflower without cost or obligation. Previously, Doug worked as a charitable gift planner for over 20 years for two Des Moines area charitable organizations, Mercy Hospital and ChildServe. After graduating from the University of Iowa College of Business in 1983, Doug began his professional career with four years in public accounting as an auditor and tax specialist. Doug lives in Clive, Iowa.

Leslie Jaworski

Leslie Jaworski  / Community Life Director / Email Leslie
Leslie has served as the Director of Community Life of Mayflower Community since August 2020. Previously, she was the Director of Reputation Management and Marketing and Sales Assistant with Hotel Grinnell (Iowa). Prior to that, Leslie worked at Grinnell College for 12 years managing a national research project assessing the benefits of undergraduate student research experiences funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Leslie has been the Assistant Director and a coach for the Grinnell College Youth Sports Camp in Grinnell for the past 15 years. Before moving to Grinnell in 2004, Leslie worked at DePauw University, Greencastle IN, as the Assistant Director of the Media Fellows Program. She has a BA in psychology, an MS in Student Affairs and Higher Education, with a heavy emphasis in counseling. Leslie is licensed as an Activities Director in the State of Iowa and is certified as a CNA (certified nursing assistant). She utilizes her education, interpersonal skills, and vision of holistic well-being to promote person-centered activities in The Mayflower Community.

Jacob Staroska, CDM  / Director of Foodservice / Email Jacob
Jacob has been licensed as a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM). A Grinnell native, Jacob began working in The Mayflower Community as Foodservice Supervisor in December 2020. He is a graduate of the Des Moines Area Community College Culinary Arts program and has earlier foodservice work experience in two Des Moines senior living communities as well as a restaurant. In his Mayflower role, Jacob has responsibility for supervision of Foodservice staff, planning and execution of daily meal production and special events and coordinating with Mayflower’s consultant dietitian to ensure dietary needs for Health Center and Assisted Living residents.

Joni Schmidt / Resident Services Coordinator / Email Joni 

Joni has served as Resident Services Coordinator since 2021. Before she served as General Manager at Hotel Grinnell (Iowa) for 5 years. In her Mayflower role, Joni ensures residents quality of service; whether that be creating/hosting events, services, appointments and  communications. Joni serves as a liaison between residents in Independent Living and Mayflower Community.
