The Mayflower Community is not taking any chances against the flu bug lying around in public areas! Our daily routine includes disinfection of all shared surfaces and special cleaning of common areas.
The photo above shows Housekeeper Rhonda Rawlins hard at work cleaning and disinfecting chairs in the Buckley Dining Room. (Just to be clear, her job does not always allow Rhonda to sit around!) This work is performed on a regular schedule in all of our dining areas. In addition, only Food Service staff with caps or hairnets is allowed to be in our kitchens. Gloves are a requirement when serving food.
The second photo above shows Scott Gruhn, Director of Food Service, Housekeeping, and Laundry, with Tammy Long, Supervisor of Housekeeping and Laundry, as they inspect new bedspreads. All Health Center beds are getting the new coverings—blue in the South Neighborhood and emerald green in the greater Health Center. The fire-retardant bedspreads are two-sided allowing for more frequent laundering. Even though there is plenty of room in healthcare suites, we do not encourage use of the bedspreads for “ghost tag”—too much risk of sprained ankles!
Ever vigilant.
