On Saturday, October 6th, 17 Mayflower residents boarded the famous Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad Dinner Train for an excursion over the high bridge on the Des Moines River valley. They saw the changing-color leaves in the Iowa woodlands while dining on a scrumptious white-tablecloth meal of Iowa chop, veggie lasagna, chicken marsala, prime rib, or encrusted Mediterranean salmon. Seated at tables of four, they connected with each other or new acquaintances. After the two-and-a-half-hour trip riding the rails, residents returned to Mayflower on Lester the Bus. They can’t wait until spring to do this again.
