On Friday, July 31st, The Mayflower Community again hosted a Wine and Cheese party…just like in the old days (before the pandemic!). A regular, last-Friday-of-the-month event, this opportunity to sample wines and enjoy light hors d’oeuvres brought together residents and their guests.
The Community Life department at Mayflower, headed by Leslie Jaworski, organized this special kick-off to include musical entertainment. Esther Ware, clarinet; Julie Dressler, piano; and Emma Ware, soprano performed selections of sacred, musical theatre, opera, classical, and jazz music in the Buckley Courtyard while residents mingled and enjoyed special foods and wines.
The Mayflower kitchens, led by Scott Gruhn, Director and Jacob Staroska, Supervisor, prepared these special treats:
- Assorted mini-cheese balls
- Green olives stuffed with bleu cheese
- Watermelon and goat cheese canape
- Peach chutney
- Apple cranberry chutney
- Assorted cheese and cracker board
The wine selections included:
- Italico Pinot Grigio
- Sean Minor chardonnay
- Don Ramon red blend
- Cappone Chianti
Residents chose to dine outside on the patio or inside in the Buckley Dining Room.
The fun times are returning!
